‘Russian Roulette’ chillies sold by Tesco

U.K store Tesco started selling a famous chilli of Spain named “Russian Roulette”. This chilli is also called as Pimientos de Pardon, which are sweet and mild in taste out of 10, one is hotter. This chilli which is popular Tapas dish of Spain is available in Tesco.

These chillies were previously sold by independent suppliers and growers. Jonathan Corbett who is the exotic vegetable buyer of Tesco said that these green chillies bring the house down when they are actually served and no one can tell this that which chilli is the hottest among them. These chillies are very trendy and famous in Spain and are used for fun in the daredevil game of culinary Russian roulette.

These chillies have superb and sweet taste and is tastes little similar to bell peppers and fresh asparagus. These chillies originates from the region which is around Padron in the north-west Spain and it was actually taken to this area by the Franciscan monks when they were traveling to the mission to Spain from Mexico.

These chillies are traditionally cooked in a pan with small amount of olive oil till it blisters. A retail analyst of TNS informed that the demand for chilli peppers is grown by 16% among the UK retailers during last year. He said that chilli peppers were generally stocked in the areas with large Asian and Afro-Caribbean communities but now they are available in most of the Tesco stores across UK.
